Guide既可以作动词，也可以做名词。

       guide用作动词时，做“给某人导游”解释。例如：

1、  他将带领你们登上山顶。

       He will guide you to the top of the mountain.

2、  他的导游工作得到了大家的普遍认可。

       The service he provided in guiding the visitors was generally recognized.

       guide做名词时的一个常用意思为“导游”，这应该是大家所熟悉的。实际上，在英语中，带外国旅游团的国际导游常被称作“guide-interpreter”，以突出其“翻译”的特点。例如：

1、  旅行社想尽可能雇佣能力强的称职的导游以促进其事业的发展。

       A Travel Agency would, of course, employ as many competent and qualified guide-interpreters as possible so as to make their business thrive.

Guide做名词时的另外两个意思也是旅游中经常用到的，即“旅游手册”和“路标”。例如：

1、  一本旅游指南也许能给游客帮上很大的忙。

       A guide could be of great help to the travelers.

2、预先准备好一本旅游指南对长途旅行者很有帮助的。

       To get a guidebook prepared beforehand is necessary for those long-distance travelers.

       guide做“路标”用时也可作“guideboard”，当然也可以是“sign”。例如：

1、  我迷路了，可附近看不见任何路标。

       I got lost, but I can’t see any guideboards around.
