1、觊觎:(书)希望得到(不应该得到的东西)wish to get (what one should not get);covet
2、前怕狼后怕虎:形容顾虑重重,畏缩不前:fear wolves ahead and tigers behind -- be full of fear; be overcautious; be plagued by all sorts of fears; be so full of apprehension that one recoils in fear.
3、前事不忘后事之师:《战国策·赵策一》:‘前事之不忘,后事之师。’指记住过去的经验教训,可以作为以后的借鉴。‘Past experience, if not forgotten, is a guide for the future’-- lessons learned from the past can serve as a guide for the future (Intrigues of the Warring States·Intrigues of ZhaoⅠ).
4、少年老成:原指人虽年轻,却很老练,举动谨慎,现在多指年轻人缺乏朝气。old head on young shoulders; young but mature; old young man; young person lacking in vigour and drive.
5、水泄不通:形容十分拥挤或包围得非常严密,好像连水都不能泄出。be so crowded or closely besieged that not even a drop of water could trickle through.
6、剜肉医疮(比喻)只顾眼前,用有害的方法来救急。cut flesh to cure a boil; use a stopgap to the jeopardy of one's long-term interests (疮:伤口boil).
7、驴唇不对马嘴:(比喻)答非所问或事物两下不相合。donkeys'lips don't match horses'jaws;incongruous; irrelevant:这个比方打得不妥当,有点驴唇不对马嘴。The analogy is rather far-fetched.
