Message by FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu on World Food Day

Dear Friends,

各位朋友，

This year’s World Food Day finds us as a critical moment. The COVID-19 pandemic remains a global challenge, causing untold losses and hardship.

今年的“世界粮食日”非比寻常。新冠疫情依然是全球面临的共同挑战，造成了难以言喻的损失与困难。

The impacts of the climate crisis are all around us. Crops have gone up in flames. Homes have been washed away. Countless lives have been thrown into turmoil. Our thoughts are with the people in Afghanistan, Haiti, and many other humanitarian emergencies.

气候危机的阴影也笼罩着世界。作物因火灾化为灰烬。家园被洪水夷为平地。无数民众的生活急转直下。我们的心与阿富汗、海地以及其他身处人道主义紧急状态地区的人民同在。

Global food security challenges have not been this severe for years. Yet, in the past year, we have also witnessed the resilience and power within all of us. And we owe our gratitude to all our Food Heroes who have kept the production up, and market shaft stocked.

多年来，全球粮食安全局势从未如此严峻。尽管如此，在过去一年中，我们亲身体会到了自身内在的韧性与力量。我们感谢所有的粮食英雄，克服时艰，辛勤耕耘，保障供给。

We at FAO have also prepared and positioned ourselves to better support Members in dealing with shocks and challenges. Our new Strategic Framework 2022-2031, endorsed by FAO’s 194 Members, supports the 2030 Agenda through transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems, for Better Production, Better Nutrition, a Better Environment and a Better Life, leaving no one behind.

联合国粮农组织也已充分准备，调整定位，支持成员国更好地应对冲击与挑战。我们的新版《2022-2031战略框架》获得了194个成员国的全体支持，旨在支持落实《2030年可持续发展议程》，着力推动转型，建设更高效、更包容、更有韧性且更可持续的农业粮食体系，实现更好生产、更好环境和更好生活，不让任何人掉队。

The UN Food Systems Summit last month saw the world coming together, committed to transforming our global agri-food systems together. It was a “people’s” summit, a “solutions” summit, and “action” summit, with hundreds of national dialogues contributing ideas and action plans demonstrating our collective commitment.

上个月举行的联合国粮食体系峰会上，国际社会团结一心，承诺携手努力，实现全球农业粮食体系转型。峰会心向“人民”，面向“对策”，重视“行动”。数百场峰会相关国家对话提供了思路和行动计划，也体现了我们共同的承诺。

This World Food Day calls on us to “walk the talk” and “take the action”. As producers, distributors or consumers, we each have the power to make a positive impact on the transformation. Our actions are our future. Let this World Food Day be “Day One” of a future without hunger.

“世界粮食日”呼吁我们“言出必行”、“采取行动”。无论是作为生产者、销售者，还是消费者，我们每个人都有能力为转型带来积极影响。行动造就未来。让本届“世界粮食日”为建设没有饥饿的未来带来“第一缕曙光”！
