站在古老的丹霞崖壁和被称为活化石的桫椤面前，仿佛窥见地球亿万年前的样貌，举手投足都好似与时间的长河有了某种特殊的链接。发育于第三纪晚期的喜马拉雅造山运动的赤水丹霞，是中国丹霞最大的连片分布区。

       Standing in front of the ancient Danxia cliffs and Spinulose tree ferns known as “living fossil”, I seem to have caught a glimpse of the earth billions of years ago. With one breath or one touch, I feel like establishing some kind of connection with the ancient past. Starting to develop with the Himalayan Orogeny in the late Tertiary Age, Chishui Danxia is the largest contiguously distributed Danxia area in China.

       在这里，“丹山”颜色鲜明而热烈，如西天云霞般绚烂；“碧水、翠林”清鲜、活力而富有生机。红绿之间所形成的巨大视觉反差，正是大自然的色彩杰作。而作为“中国丹霞”不可缺少的组成部分，这里是“中国丹霞”唯一的高峡幽谷丹霞景观，从峰顶到谷地落差巨大。

       Here in Chishui, “Dan Shan (red mountains)” in radiant red are splendid like the rosy clouds in western sky, and “Bi Shui (green waters) and Cui Lin (verdant trees)” are fresh, abound with vitality. The great visual contrast between the red color and the green is a chromatic masterpiece by the nature. With the huge drop from its top to the bottom, Chishui Danxia, as an essential part of “China Danxia”, is the only great canyon Danxia landscape among them.

       2010年8月，经联合国教科文组织世界遗产委员会在第34届世界遗产大会上的一致同意，由赤水丹霞、湖南崀山、广东丹霞山、福建泰宁、江西龙虎山、浙江江郎山共同申报的“中国丹霞”被正式列入《世界遗产名录》。赤水丹霞也成为了贵州继荔波喀斯特后的第二个世界自然遗产地。

       On the 34th World Heritage Convention in August of 2010, with the consent by UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee, “China Danxia”, consisting of Chishui Danxia, Hu’nan Lang Mountain, Guangdong Danxia Mountain, Fujian Taining, Jiangxi Longhu Mountain and Zhejiang Jianglang Mountain, was successfully inscribed on the “World Heritage List”. Since that, Chishui Danxia became the 2nd World Natural Heritage in Guizhou, following Libo Karst.
