(a.)

1. (usu. of language or art) not needed; superfluous; unnecessary

(通常指语言或艺术)不必要的,冗赘的,多余的

e.g. a paragraph without a redundant word

e.g. The illustration had too much redundant detail.

2. (esp. Brit.) (of industrial workers) no longer needed for any available job and therefore dismissed
