Remarks at the Prize Awarding Ceremony

Dear colleagues,

Due to health reasons, I am not able to attend this important occasion, but I would like to say a few words through my colleague at Translators Association of China.

I feel deeply honored to be the first Chinese translator to receive the 2014 FIT Aurora Borealis Fiction Award. I take this not only as recognition of my personal work in translation, but also more interest in Chinese literature. I have always taken great pleasure in translating Chinese, English and French literature, and am still translating at the age of 93. I simply love it.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the juries for their hard work and kind words, thank my colleagues at FIT and TAC for their great support. And I wish the 20th FIT Congress every success!

尊敬的同仁：

因健康原因，我不能参加这个重要的活动，但我希望通过中国翻译协会的同事讲几句话。

作为第一个获此殊荣的中国翻译家，我深感荣幸。我认为这不仅仅是对我个人翻译工作的认可，也表明中国文学受到世界更多的关注。从事汉语、英语和法语文学的翻译对我而言一直是一种享受，93岁的我还在做翻译。我就是喜欢翻译。

我谨借此机会感谢评委们的辛勤工作，感谢国际译联和中国译协的同仁们给予的大力支持。祝第20届世界翻译大会取得成功！
