Make sense

1. to have a meaning that you can easily understand

有道理;讲得通

e.g. This sentence doesn't make sense.

这个句子不通。

2. to be a sensible thing to do

是明智的;合乎情理

e.g. It makes sense to buy the most up-to-date version.

买最新版本是明智的。

3. to be easy to understand or explain

表述清楚;易于理解;道理明显

e.g. John wasn't making much sense on the phone.

约翰在电话上说得不大清楚。

e.g. Who would send me all these flowers? It makes no sense.

谁会给我送这么多花呢?真不可思议。

引申:make sense of sth

to understand sth that is difficult or has no clear meaning

理解,弄懂(不易理解的事物)
