Boost

(v.)

1. to make sth increase, or become better or more successful

使增长;使兴旺

e.g. to boost exports/profits

增加出口;提高利润

e.g. The movie helped boost her screen career.

那部电影有助于她的银幕生涯的发展。

e.g. to boost sb's confidence/morale

增强某人的信心/士气

e.g. Getting that job did a lot to boost his ego(=make him feel more confident).

得到那份工作使他信心倍增。

e.g. In order to reach the goal, the two sides agreed on a cooperation guideline to designate 2014 as the year for boosting China-CEE (Central and Eastern European) trade and investment ties, with a series of events to be held during the year.
