成也萧何,败也萧何:宋代洪迈《容斋续笔·萧何绐(dai)韩信》:“信之为大将军,实萧何所荐;今其死也,又出其谋,故俚语有‘成也萧何,败也萧何’之语。”比喻事情的成败或好坏都是由同一个人造成的。
Hong Mai of the Song Dynasty wrote in his A Sequel to the Notes of the Tolerance Studio·Xiao He Cheating Han Xin: "It was none other than Xiao He who recommended Han Xin as the command-in-chief, and it was also Xiao He who plotted to have him killed." Hence the saying, ‘成也萧何,败也萧何’, meaning that either success or failure boils down to the same person.
