道教：我国宗教之一，由东汉张道陵创立，到南北朝时盛行起来。创立时，入道者须出五斗米，所以又叫“五斗米道”。道教徒尊称张道陵为天师，因而又叫“天师道”。道教奉老子为教祖，尊称他为“太上老君”。

Taoism; indigenous Chinese religon that was founded by Zhang Daoling of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and flourished in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. In the beginning, those who became followers had to pay five dou of rice, so it was also called the "Religon of Five Dou of Rice", and since the believers called Zhang  Daoling "Tianshi"("Teacher or Prophet from Heaven"). the religion was also called "Tianshi Religion". Taoist revered Lao Zi as the originator of Taoism and called and called him "Taishang Laojun", or Grand Alchemist and Supreme Patriarch.
