Message by WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Neglected Tropical Diseases Day

Dear colleagues and friends,
Neglected tropical diseases affect the poorest and most marginalized communities in our societies.
The COVID-19 pandemic has made things even worse. Millions of people have been trashed deeper into poverty, with lost livelihoods, malnourishment and already limited access to health services reduced even further.
On World NTD Day, I call on the global community, countries, partners and colleagues to continue their work.
Let’s break the cycle of poverty and provide equitable health services for all people – no matter who they are or where they live.
Let us all come together to achieve a world free from NTDs.
